This year the Kiwanis Club Christmas Tree will be lit without the traditional ceremony because of the uncertainties of Covid-19. The Christmas Tree, located in Veterans Field, will be lit around Thanksgiving and will be lit again at dusk each night until after New Year’s Day.
A video recording will be made of the first lighting and posted on the township website so that residents can view it at their leisure.
The Christmas Tree Lighting has been an annual event coordinated by the Kiwanis Club of Southampton, who initially placed the tree and bought the lighting and decoration. In addition, the Upper Southampton Fire Company provides the fire truck bringing Santa to Veterans Field, Parks and Recreation provides games for the children, Public Works and Police Department provide support for the event and the William Tennent Madrigal Singers perform each year.
The event will return next year.
